The UCF Libraries is happy to offer workshops on important topics throughout the semester. We have one set of workshops for all students, and another for graduate students.

EndNote and RefWorks can help make managing your references and formatting citations easy! Join us to learn how to export citations from library databases, organize your citations, generate bibliographies, and format your citations in a Word document. All sessions cover both products! Please bring your own laptop if you would like to follow along with the presentation.

Pathways to Success

Publishing in the Academy Workshops Put Graduate Students on the Pathways to Success

Sign up for a diverse selection of Publishing in the Academy workshops presented by the UCF Libraries. This workshop series is part of the Pathways to Success graduate student development program.

Join us to enhance your research skills, gain confidence with your presentation talents, explore complex digital tools, learn new authorship strategies, and more. The workshops are offered at no cost.

The variety of engaging sessions include these topics:

  • Untangling the Web of Science
  • Citation Management
  • Mendeley Citation Manager
  • Where to Publish and Author Rights
  • Presentation Skills
  • Introduction to Patents and Trademarks
  • Optimizing Your Online Presence

  • Documenting Your Research Data

The workshops have been offered since summer 2015. A new workshop is the Introduction to Patents and Trademarks. Consider joining this session if you are curious about the patent process, have ideas for new inventions, want to see if a business name or logo has already been trademarked, and more. Register now.

To sign up, log on through myUCF. Go to the Student Center and scroll down to the Graduate Students section. Click on the link to Pathways to Success. Search for a workshop and enroll or join a waitlist. For more details, see the instructions from the College of Graduate Studies.

Workshops will be held in either the Graduate Student Center (CNH 146) or the John C. Hitt Library (main campus, 235A).

Literature Review Toolkit
This session will cover library research strategies to help differentiate sources and tools for conducting literature reviews and locating resources for projects. The discussion, demonstrations, and Q&A will focus on identifying subject databases, making use of review articles and citation tracking options, creating alerts to stay updated on publications, using Google Scholar options such as links to UCF databases and researcher profiles. An overview of library services for graduate students will also be provided. Please bring your laptop if you would like to set up options during the session.

Library Research Workshops for Graduate Students

The UCF Libraries’ Publishing in the Academy workshop series focuses on supporting graduate students about topics important to researchers. Workshops cover a wide-range of discussions and demonstrations including: literature review strategies, using online library databases and tools, making the most of Web of Science, publishing your work and author rights, optimizing your online presence in research networks, understanding citation metrics, presenting your work, and data management practices.
In collaboration with the College of Graduate Studies, workshops are held at both the Graduate Student Center in Colbourn Hall in Room 146 and at the John C. Hitt Library in Classroom 235C. Please use the Graduate Studies website to register for all workshops held at the Graduate Student Center.
